ワシントン大学にてコンタクトレンズにLEDライトを埋め込んでしまおう！という、驚愕の試みが行われています。

ワシントン大学の研究チームによると、半透明の赤色LEDライト、青色LEDライトをコンタクトレンズに埋め込む事が理論的に可能だとし、これにより鮮明な映像や情報を直接網膜に映し込むことができるそうです。さらに、緑色LEDライトの小型化に成功すれば、3原色が揃うので、フルカラーのディスプレイを搭載したコンタクトレンズが実現可能になるとの事です。
